Big Nerd Ranch Content Strategy Case Study 

Big Nerd Ranch has been known primarily as a developer training powerhouse since 2001. From ~2015, they’d looked to move into the software development and digital product development spaces. 

 

Challenge

When I joined in 2019 BNR had not made many inroads into the Digital Product Development space. We were not ranking on search, we needed more visitors to the website, and we needed more quality conversions. We also had a tight budget and couldn’t afford to go all in on paid search. 

Solution

In lieu of a paid campaign, I created a  content strategy that focused on the terms “digital product development agency” and “digital product development.” I led the creation of a pillar content strategy, social posts, and SEO optimization. 

Outcome

In six months, we achieved the featured snippet (rank zero) in Google for the term “digital product development.” This was done through 100% organic SEO (on-page copy, blogs, and social posts).
